MEMBERSHIP
Strong and steady
Active members of the Laurentian Chapter numbered 57 in February 2012, making it the largest IODE chapter in Ottawa. Some members are new to the organization; others have been devoted supporters for close to half a century. Over the last few years, the chapter has eight times won a national award - or shared in the award of Municipal Chapter - to honour its success in recruiting new members.

What does it mean - to be a "member"?
Members are expected to join in and make a contribution. At every meeting, they are invited to bring donations of items needed by men and women in shelters (toiletries, etc.) or knitted goods, children's books to send north, etc. When the chapter is organizing one of its major events for the year, teams are formed with new members assigned to more experienced organizers in order to learn the ropes. The work is worthwhile. It is also fun.
How to get involved?
New members are welcome! From September to June, regular meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month in the Church Hall of St. Bartholomew's Church, at 125 Mackay Street in New Edinburgh.
