FUND-RAISING EVENTS
Working for good causes
Over the years, IODE Laurentian Chapter has raised money in different ways - dances, teas, bazaars, the sale of cheese and pies at the Winter Fair. During the First World War, for example, it pioneered a very early recycling program to collect waste paper to raise funds to relieve servicemen. For many years, however, its biggest fund-raiser was an annual Garden Party. Today, there are four main fund-raising events.

2012 Luncheon and Theatre Tour
This tour can become "habit forming"
Please join us for the 2012 Luncheon and Theatre tour to see Nunsense II – The Second Coming on May 16th, 2012 at the Thousands Islands Playhouse
The musical by Dan Goggin finds the Sisters ready to put on a new show. They’re slicker, thoroughly stage-struck and preening for a talent scout who is rumoured to be in the audience. There is even a bingo game afoot, tap dancing, and (psst) someone has won the sweepstakes.
This fun day out includes bus to and from Gananoque, a short shopping trip, lunch at the Gananoque Inn and a matinee performance.
Bus leaves St. Laurent Shopping Centre (Toys R Us) at 9:15 a.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m.
Bus leaves Carlingwood Shopping Centre (South side of Sears) at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 6:15 p.m.
Tickets are "Non-Refundable"

51st ANNUAL HOUSE AND GARDEN TOUR
8 and 9 June 2012
Laurentian Chapter organizes the oldest house and garden tour in Ottawa, having brought the concept to Ottawa in 1961, but it has a new idea. Following the success of its 50th annual House and Garden Tour - which focused for the first time on historical houses in the neighbourhood of New Edinburgh - Laurentian Chapter has chosen another old Ottawa neighbourhood as the focus for its next tour. A two-day event, on Friday and Saturday, in Sandy Hill will include a number of open houses and wonderful gardens, as well music, refreshments and expert interpretation. Funds will go to help end violence against women.

The Linden House Theatre Company specializes in classic comedy, featuring some of the best playwrights in the history of the English-language stage – George Bernard Shaw, Noel Coward and, last year, Somerset Maugham.
