IODE BADGE
Since IODE Laurentian Chapter was founded in 1906, the volunteers who serve it have worn a badge that symbolizes their dedication to service and the values that inspire their work. The chapter is especially honoured to act as custodians of the badge of IODE's first National President, Edith Nordheimer. That badge was specially designed for her by her husband, the Toronto jeweler Samuel Nordheimer. It is still worn by the President of Laurentian Chapter. It is made of 18-karat yellow and white gold and is decorated with eight pearls, 21 rubies, 2 large diamonds, 35 diamond chips and 11 synthetic sapphires. Mrs. Nordheimer's daughter (Mrs. Edward Houston) later became a member of IODE Laurentian Chapter, and in 1948 her grand-daughters (Mrs. H.E. Reid and Mrs. Marcus MacKenzie) bequeathed the badge to the chapter.

Symbolism of the Badge
The seven-pointed star on a dark blue background has at its centre the Union Jack, showing our pride that Canada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The surrounding white circle embodying the name of the Organization in gold lettering is securely clasped at the base and symbolizes the union of purpose of all members. The crown surmounting the Badge represents loyalty to the Queen of Canada.
